Thank you for purchasing Sony Creative Software Inc. Vegas Movie Studio 9.0
software. This document contains information about installing
and using Vegas Movie Studio on
your computer.
Notable fixes/changes in version 9.0a
- Added support for rendering 1920x1080 AVCHD video (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only).
- Improved AVCHD playback performance.
- Resolved an issue that could cause AVCHD import to overwrite existing imported clips.
- Fixed the ruler format for PAL projects.
- Improved stability when working with projects containing multiple MPEG video clips.
- Added Japanese, French, German, and Spanish language support.
What's New in Version 9.0
- Updated New Project and Make Movie Wizards.
- Improved native HDV .m2t playback performance and improved memory handling for HDV longform projects. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Sony HDV true progressive 24p support. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Import from Memory Recording Unit. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Import from AVCHD camcorder. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Support for editing files recorded with Sony AVCHD camcorders. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Support for Sony Cinescore™ Studio music-generation plug-in.
- Single-monitor full-screen video preview.
- Burn timeline to Blu-ray Disc™. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Upload to YouTube.
- Added support for reading 1920x1080 AVCHD video. (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum only)
- Smart rendering support for MPEG-2 video.
- Support for opening MJPEG-encoded AVI files (such as video recorded with a digital still camera).
- Support for opening and rendering FLAC files.
- Support for LPEC files imported from Digital Voice Editor software.
- High-quality H.264 AVC/AAC import and export (including HD support). Includes templates for Sony WALKMAN® and Apple iPod® .
- Vegas Movie Studio 9 requires QuickTime 7.1.6 or later. As a general rule, you are encouraged to use the most current version of QuickTime.
- 24-bit Windows Media Audio files will always be read as
16-bit files in Windows 2000 (multichannel files are read
as 16-bit stereo). This is a limitation of the operating
system. You can render 24-bit WMA files, but if you want
to read these files as 24-bit audio, copy them to a Windows
XP machine.
- If you are printing a rendered file to HDV tape,
the file must precisely conform to the target HDV
device
and file type requirements, or the print-to-tape operation
will fail. Rendering using the provided HDV MPEG-2 render
templates—unmodified in any way—is required to successfully
print to HDV tape.
- The Sony Handycam USB driver that is included with DVD-based camcorders can prevent Vegas Movie Studio from recognizing a USB-connected camera. If you use the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel to uninstall the "Sony DVD Handycam USB driver" component, Vegas Movie Studio will be able connect to the camera and import video using Import > DVD Camcorder Disc.
- VR mode requires Windows XP SP2 or greater.
- Vegas Movie Studio fails to open the audio streams of MPEG-2 files that use stereo AC-3 encoding. Please conact Customer Support for a workaround.
